Think Pink

Pink ribbons are for the dogs this month. Literally.

Heck, everybody knows that right now, this month, October, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, don’t they? If they don’t, now our BFFFs (Best Four-legged Friends Forever) can help howl, er, spread, the word, paw-in-hand with us, to raise both money and awareness to fight for the cure.

How? First, we snap up several of Andrea Levine’s clever Pink Paws for the Cause necklaces. Tiny little fundraisers in their own charming way, a percentage of sales is dog-earmarked for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Philadelphia Affiliate).

Then, we toss our buddies a bone. Or more like, a Pink “Ribbon” Buddy, the snuggly squeaky toy with a pink ribbon for its heart. Or the Pink “Ribbon” Ringo, a durable fetch and chew toy. Both toys are available at Trixie and Peanut in pink which fights breast cancer or blue which fights prostate cancer.

There’s also the hot-dog shaped squeaky pink Loofa by Multipet, with its embroidered pink ribbon and percentage of its proceeds going toward another leading organization, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

We also can get our dear little breast cancer fighters-for-a-cure any number of Feline Fido’s pink ribbon adorned collars, harnesses or leashes, by all means embellished with its pink ribbon pet ID tags or crystal encrusted breast cancer awareness collar charms shaped like, well, naturally, pink ribbons. Black collars with pink ribbons or the pink ribbon bandanna (in limited quantities for a limited time only) are a little more “doggly,” for a more unisex appeal.
